Irina Shayk appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for 2011, with an inset of Kate Upton that reads, “Kate the Great”. Kate Upton was on the cover the next year in 2012. We have made fun of Kate Upton a few times on this site, like here, here and here. We have also talked about the 2010 Swimsuit Cover with Brooklyn Decker but we have yet to mention the 2011 beauty who graced it’s cover in 2011. We aren’t going to make fun of her because, unlike Kate, there is just nothing to make fun of. This girl is beautiful, classy, and looks great in everything including lingerie and swimsuits.
Irina was born in Russia on January 6, 1986. She was born Irina Shaykhlislamova, which is obviously too complex for us westerners so she became Irina Shayk. She began modelling in Paris at 19. In 2007 she also appeared in Sports Illustrated for the first time. Since then she has appeared in every Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and on the cover in 2011 (as we have already mentioned)
She isn’t just a Sports Illustrated Model. She has done work for Victoria’s Secret (which said they would never use Kate Upton). She has also done work for Guess, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and lots of others. There are too many to go into here actually. If you want to know more, check out her biography on wikipedia.
